Former USU Football/Basketball Standout Scott Parrish Dead at 69

LOGAN, Utah-Tuesday, former Utah State football and basketball standout Scott Parrish died at 69 per reports.

Parrish, an offensive tackle, was a three-year letterwinner for the Aggies’ football program from 1973 to 1975. During his time on the gridiron, Utah State posted a record of 21-12 (.636).

Parrish also played center on the Utah State men’s basketball team, posting 3.2 points and 3.2 rebounds on the Aggies’ freshman squad in the 1971-72 season.

The native of Logan, Utah starred at Logan High School and excelled in both football and basketball for the Grizzlies before attending USU.

Following his collegiate career, Parrish was selected in the fifth round of the 1976 Draft by the New Orleans Saints at No. 127 overall.

While Parrish never played for the Saints, he did dress for a pair of games in the 1976 season with the Denver Broncos.

Parrish is a 1976 graduate of Utah State University, earning a bachelor’s degree from the college of agriculture. He subsequently earned his Master’s degree from Washington State University in crop physiology along with doctorate degrees in agronomy, minor plant breeding and minor soil sciences.

Parrish later accepted a research and development position at Monsanto of St. Louis.

After his time there, he founded his own agricultural and development company, AgraSyst Inc. of Spokane, Wash.

Parrish was born June 6, 1953 to Wallace and Treva (Killian) Parrish. He married his high school sweetheart, Lynn Margaret Broadbent in September 1977.
