ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-Because rain postponed Friday’s scheduled Bees-Isotopes games at Albuquerque, the squads played a doubleheader Saturday.
Rain remained in the Duke City Saturday ahead of the first game, causing a weather delay of 2 hours and 9 minutes.
In the first game, the Isotopes prevailed 6-5 as Jonathan Morales posted an RBI single for the victory at Isotopes Park.
Zach Lee earned the win on the mound for the Isotopes by posting a strikeout in one inning of work.
Jake Gatewood homered in the loss for the Bees. This was Salt Lake’s sixth consecutive defeat as they fell to 31-33 on the season. Albuquerque improved to 34-30.
In the second game Saturday, the Isotopes prevailed 4-0. This game featured a 17-minute delay because the lights extemporaneously turned off at the park.
Albuquerque was led by Elehuris Montero who homered and added an insurance RBI single in the 6th Inning.
Riley Smith earned the win on the mound by going the distance and posting seven strikeouts in as many innings. Smith improves to 2-1 on the season with the victory. The Bees have now lost seven straight games and are 31-34 on the season. Conversely, the Isotopes won their sixth straight game and improved to 31-34.
The squads conclude their series later Sunday, at 6:05 pm MDT, at Isotopes Park.
