SPOKANE, Wash.-Per Sunday news, Weber State star senior linebacker Winston Reid was named the Big Sky Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Last season, Reid, a native of West Jordan and a former Copper Hills High School star, finished sixth in the Big Sky with 112 tackles, averaging 8.6 stops per game. This included 68 solo stops.
Reid obtained All-American and first-team All-Big Sky honors last season.
Reid has 163 career tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks for the Wildcats.
Weber State opens fall camp August 2 and starts the season August 31 by hosting NCAA Division II Central Washington at Stewart Stadium.
