Weber State Football Commences Season Saturday at San Diego State

SAN DIEGO-Saturday, Weber State commences its 58th season of Division I football by visiting San Diego State for a 7:06 pm MDT kickoff at SDCCU Stadium.

The Wildcats visit the Aztecs on the heels of their two most successful seasons in program history.

Weber State is currently ranked No. 8 in the STATS FCS poll, tied for the highest ranking in school history.

As he enters his sixth season as the Wildcats’ head coach, Jay Hill is 36-26 (.581) and Weber State has won 21 of their past 27 games over the course of the past two seasons.

San Diego State leads the all-time series against the Wildcats 2-0 with the two teams having last played in 1967.

The Wildcats return their starting quarterback from 2018 in junior Jake Constantine (61.0 completion percentage, 2,205 yards, 18 TD’s/12 INT’s) and their top tailback from 2018 in sophomore Josh Davis (1,362 yards, 5.4 yards per carry, 9 TD’s) and their leading receiver from last season in junior Rashid Shaheed (41 rec, 442 yards, 5 TD’s).

Weber State’s returning leader on defense is senior defensive end Adam Rodriguez (7 sacks, 61 total tackles).

The Aztecs’ starting signal-caller is senior Ryan Agnew who completed 51.8 percent of his passes in 2018 and tossed for 1,651 yards and 10 TD’s/6 INT’s.

Senior Juwan Washington is San Diego State’s leading returning tailback as he ran for 999 yards and 10 scores last season to lead the Aztecs.

The leading returning receiver for San Diego State is sophomore wide-out Ethan Dedeaux. He was fourth on the squad last season with 22 receptions for 262 yards.

Senior MIKE linebacker Kyahva Tezino is San Diego State’s leading returner on defense in tackles (127) and sacks (8.5).
