Baseball

5A State Finals Series @ UVU

OREM, Utah-Easton Fry homered and the No. 2 Brighton Bengals doubled up No. 20 Spanish Fork 6-3 Friday in the first game of the 5A Finals Series at UCCU Ballpark on the campus of Utah Valley University. Josh Mawhinney netted five strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Bengals. Jackie Sorenson, Matai Johnson and Sammy Dart drove in a run apiece in the loss for the Dons. Game 2 in this series is slated for Saturday at 1:30 pm at UCCU Ballpark. If the Dons win that game, a de facto state championship game would occur Saturday at 7:00 pm at UCCU Ballpark. Should the Bengals win at 1:30 pm, they will win the 5A state baseball championship.

Boys Lacrosse

5A State Championship @ Zions Bank Stadium

HERRIMAN, Utah-Colt McKean, Austin Taylor, Gabriel Carrera and Zachary Anderson scored two goals apiece and the No. 1 Brighton Bengals edged No. 3 Park City 10-9 Friday to win the 5A state boys lacrosse championship at Zions Bank Stadium. Deegan McCloskey and Wade Birch each scored two goals in the loss for the Miners. Brighton has now won two consecutive state titles in boys lacrosse and two all-time (2024/2025).

Softball

5A State Finals @ BYU

PROVO, Utah-Hailey Fox drove in two runs and the No. 3 West Jordan Jaguars downed No. 1 Salem Hills 6-5 to win the 5A State Finals series 2-0 Friday at Miller Park on the campus of Brigham Young University. In so doing, the Jaguars won their first all-time state title in softball and 6th in school history. Rita Tavita netted seven strikeouts in seven innings of work to earn the win in the circle for the Jaguars. Audree Stokes, Camryn Guest, Shay Loveridge, Jocile Norman and Emmery Wilson drove in a run apiece in the loss for the Skyhawks.
