HEBER CITY, Utah-JJ Serre posted 24 points and the No. 15 Wasatch Wasps routed No. 18 Salem Hills 57-36 in the first round of the 5A state playoffs Wednesday at The Nest. COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah-Bradley Easton netted 16 points and the No. 9 Brighton Bengals pounded No. 24 Hunter 62-29 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Dominick Phannaloth posted 14 points in defeat for the Wolverines. Brighton next visits No. 8 Juan Diego Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
SPANISH FORK, Utah-Nash Jackson led the way with 23 points and the No. 16 Maple Mountain Golden Eagles bested No. 17 Cedar Valley 66-59 in the first round of the 5A state playoffs Wednesday. Carson Stocking and Obed Borrel posted 16 points apiece in the loss for the Aviators. The Golden Eagles next visit No. 1 Orem Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
WOODS CROSS, Utah-The No. 12 Woods Cross Wildcats edged No. 21 Northridge 70-68 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. The Wildcats next visit No. 5 Bountiful in the second round of the state playoffs Friday at 7:00 pm.
SALT LAKE CITY-Beau Bierman led the way with 17 points and the No. 10 Skyline Eagles soared past No. 23 West 67-44 in the first round of the 5A state playoffs Wednesday. Phillip Ladua led the Panthers in the loss with 15 points. Skyline next visits No. 7 Springville Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
KEARNS, Utah-Hayden Pentico netted 22 points and the No. 19 Kearns Cougars downed No. 19 Spanish Fork 71-67 in the first round of the 5A state playoffs Wednesday. Jacob Johnson’s 20 points led the Dons in the loss. The Cougars next visit No. 3 Timpview in the second round of the state playoffs Friday at 7:00 pm.
BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Drezdon Jensen recorded 19 points and the No. 11 Viewmont Vikings humbled No. 22 Bonneville 55-34 Wednesday in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Ben Tesch led the Lakers with a game-high 21 points in defeat. The Vikings next visit No. 6 Alta Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
