SPANISH FORK, Utah-Leah Bailey’s 23 points and 8 rebounds led the way and the No. 15 Maple Mountain Golden Eagles routed No. 18 Roy 69-48 Tuesday in the first round of the 5A girls state basketball playoffs. Rihanna May led the Royals in defeat with 17 points and 5 rebounds. The Golden Eagles next visit No. 2 Wasatch Thursday at 7:00 pm at The Nest in the 2nd Round of the state playoffs.
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Karen Jones posted 13 points and the No. 16 Taylorsville Warriors routed No. 17 Hunter 42-27 in the first round of the 5A girls state basketball playoffs Tuesday. Grace Gallagher led the Wolverines in the loss with 11 points. Taylorsville next visits No. 1 West in the second round of the state playoffs Thursday at 7:00 pm.
BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Mara Mickelson netted 26 points and 8 rebounds and the No. 9 Viewmont Vikings bested No. 24 Bonneville 50-41 Tuesday in the first round of the 5A girls state basketball playoffs. Charity McDonald’s 12 points led the Lakers in the loss. The Vikings next visit No. 8 Brighton Thursday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
HOLLADAY, Utah-Joss Baker’s 21 points and 12 rebounds led the way and the No. 14 Olympus Titans edged No. 19 Northridge 53-52 in the first round of the 5A girls state basketball playoffs Tuesday. Kayla Stevenson’s 21 points led the Knights in the loss. Olympus next visits No. 3 Bountiful Thursday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
WOODS CROSS, Utah-Eden Erickson led the way with 21 points and the No. 22 Spanish Fork Dons upset No. 11 Woods Cross 58-56 Tuesday in the first round of the 5A girls state basketball playoffs. Grace MacArthur led the Wildcats with 15 points in defeat. The Dons next visit No. 6 Clearfield Thursday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Bryn Johnson and Natalie Florence posted 10 points apiece and the No. 13 Springville Red Devils clobbered No. 20 East 53-17 in the first round of the 5A girls state basketball playoffs Tuesday. Nora Amidbakarr had 6 points in the loss for the Leopards. Springville next visits No. 4 Salem Hills in the second round of the state playoffs Thursday at 7:00 pm.
SANDY, Utah-Alia Baldassano recorded 26 points and the No. 12 Alta Hawks bested No. 21 Skyline 58-47 Tuesday in the first round of the 5A girls state basketball playoffs. Ashley Price led the Eagles in defeat with 12 points. Alta next visits No. 5 Cedar Valley Thursday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
WEST JORDAN, Utah-Marlee Reupena posted 22 points and the No. 10 West Jordan Jaguars routed No. 23 Kearns 59-38 in the first round of the 5A girls state basketball playoffs Tuesday. Lia Benson’s 15 points led the Cougars in the loss. West Jordan next visits No. 7 Timpview in the second round of the state playoffs Thursday at 7:00 pm.
