Region 8 Track & Field Championships
PROVO, Utah-Wednesday, Wasatch High’s boys and girls track and field teams competed at the first day of the Region 8 championships at Provo High School.
The girls are currently in second place with 14 points behind first-place Springville with 30 points.
The boys are in fifth place with 8 points.
In the girls’ 1600-meter run, Abbie Randall (5:22:26) placed third. Anna Baird (5:46.31) finished 12th. Madelyn King placed 19th (5:55.91) and Savanna Dorrough (6:10.44) finished 29th.
In the boys’ 1600-meter run, Josh Benson (4:43.52) placed 15th. Connor Weldon (4:52.48) finished 24th. Josh Horner finished 27th (4:54.83), Jake Giles finished 32nd (5:08.69) and Brock Coombs placed 36th (5:16.05).
In the girls’ medley, the Wasps placed second (4:49.98). The Wasps were represented by Lucy Clawson, Sydney Price, Callie Griffith and Brook Sargent.
The boys’ medley squad also placed second (3:47.39) with Hayden Stocking, Peter Meuzelaar, Mack Hinckley and Bentley Ackerson competing in this event for the Wasps.
In the boys’ discus, Parker North (110-00) placed ninth, while Jay Nelson finished 11th (102-04), Seth Heaton placed 13th (101-03) and Enrique Ferreyra finished 15th (100-08).
This concludes events for Wednesday. The meet resumes Thursday at Provo High School.
