Wasatch Football Wins First Region Title Since 2007

SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Kobe McPhie came up with two key interceptions and a pair of sacks as the Wasatch Wasps overcame a 19-0 deficit to prevail 22-19 over Springville in Region 8 football action Wednesday.

The Wasps received a 17-yard touchdown run from Parker North while Adarius Edwards threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jarin Kamala.

Incidentally, Kamala’s interception late in the 4th Quarter helped ice the game for the Wasps, who earned their first region title since winning Region 10 in 2007 when Wasatch High School was a Class 3-A school.

North added a 1-yard touchdown run in the win for Wasatch.

Because of Maple Mountain’s 35-28 win over Salem Hills in overtime Wednesday, the Wasps did not have to share the Region 8 title with the Skyhawks.

The 7-2 Wasps next await the RPI announcement Saturday to see where they will be seeded in the 5-A playoffs.
