UVU Baseball’s Eastburn Earns Second Team All-WAC Honors



MESA, Ariz.-Tuesday, UVU baseball designated hitter/outfielder Ryan Eastburn earned second-team all-WAC honors as confirmed by the league ahead of Wednesday’s conference tournament.

The all-WAC baseball teams and major award winners were selected in a vote by the league’s 10 head coaches.

Eastburn, a native of Torrance, Calif., led the Wolverines with a .326 batting average and a team-best .442 on-base percentage.

Eastburn was the lone Wolverine to earn any all-conference honors this season.

The WAC player of the year is New Mexico State junior shortstop Joey Ortiz who is third in Division I in batting average (.430) and RBI (82). Incidentally, his teammate, first baseman, Tristan Peterson is second nationally in RBI (88).

New Mexico State sophomore Nick Gonzales leads the nation in batting average (.438).
