SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, University of Utah men’s basketball head coach Craig Smith signed Turkish small forward Karahan Tuan Efeoğlu.

Efeoğlu, the 6’8″ native of Türkiye, previously played on the U20 Turkish squad that competed at the U20 European Championships. The Turks finished 7th at this event earlier this year.

The 19-year-old Efeoğlu has also competed for Istanbul Basket and Anadolu Efes S.K. of Istanbul. Last season with Anadolu Efes, Efeoğlu averaged 1.4 points and 0.6 rebounds per game.

With Istanbul Basket, Efeoğlu averaged 4.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in two seasons with the Turkish professional squad.

Efeoğlu has obtained the last available scholarship Smith had for this season’s class of signees for the Runnin’ Utes.
