SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, by virtue of Utah football’s 53-7 win over Colorado, the Utes received three honors from the Big 12 conference.
Freshman quarterback Byrd Ficklin was named the Offensive Player of the Week and the Freshman of the Week by the Big 12 and the Utes also received the Offensive Line of the Week honor from the conference.
Ficklin, a native of Muskogee, Okla., threw for 140 yards and two scores and posted 291 yards of offense for the Utes in the rout of the Buffaloes.
The Utah offensive line helped the Utes compile 587 offensive yards in the win over Colorado as well.
Ficklin and his Utah teammates return to action Saturday by hosting No. 17 Cincinnati at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
