IRVING, Texas-Monday, Utah freshman quarterback Isaac Wilson was named the Totino’s Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for Week 4.
Wilson, a freshman out of Draper, Utah and Corner Canyon High School, completed 17 of 29 passes for 207 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in the Utes’ 22-19 win at Oklahoma State.
Wilson is the first freshman starting quarterback in program history to win on the road against a ranked opponent.
Wilson and his Utah teammates return to action Saturday by hosting the Arizona Wildcats.
Additionally, BYU junior receiver/returner Parker Kingston was named the Big 12 special teams player of the week.
Kingston returned a punt 90 yards for a score in the Cougars’ 38-9 win over then-No. 13 Kansas State. BYU returns to action Saturday at Waco, Texas against the Baylor Bears.
