LOGAN, Utah-Thursday, Utah State football had a busy off-season day as the Aggies added three graduate transfers and two junior college players.
The Aggies’ new graduate transfers are running back Riley Burt, receiver Siaosi Mariner and tight end Caleb Repp. The junior college transfers are receiver Sean Carter and linebacker Noah Young.
Burt, a transfer from BYU hails from nearby Mantua, Utah and rushed for 515 yards and three scores, on 5.3 yards per carry during his career with the Cougars.
Mariner and Repp both come to the Aggies from the University of Utah, while the 6-2 190-pound Mariner posted 52 grabs for 785 yards and four scores during his career with the Utes.
The 6-5 230-pound Repp played both tight end and defensive end for the Utes. His versatility was evident as he had two career grabs for 25 yards, both going for scores, and defensively netted 21 tackles, two sacks and a pair of forced fumbles.
The 6-4 190-pound Carter comes to the Aggies from Westlake Village, Calif. and Fullerton Junior College. During his career with the Hornets, Carter hauled in 12 grabs for 209 yards and a touchdown.
The 6-3 230-pound Young out of Gulf Breeze, Fla. and Southwestern JC netted 48 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 4.5 sacks for a loss, two fumble recoveries, an interception and a 24-yard punt return for a score, following a blocked punt.
Additionally, Phil Steele’s magazine has named Aggies junior receiver/kick returner Savon Scarver and junior linebacker David Woodward as All-Americans.
The 5-11 190-pound Scarver was named as the third consensus All-American in school history and he has three career kick returns for scores. Scarver was also named as a first-team All-Mountain West return specialist by Athlon Sports.
The 6-2 230-pound Woodward earned first-team All-American honors from Pro Football Focus and third-team All-American honors from The Associated Press last season. In 2018, he had 134 tackles, 5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, three pass breakups and four quarterback hurries.
Also making Steele’s All-Mountain West teams were senior defensive end Tipa Galeai, senior cornerback DJ Williams, junior quarterback Jordan Love, junior punt returner Jordan Nathan, Scarver and Woodward on the first team.
Second-team members include senior running back Gerold Bright, senior kicker Dominic Eberle and senior defensive tackle Christopher ‘Unga.
Making Steele’s All-Mountain West fourth team were senior defensive tackle Fua Leilua, junior long snapper Brandon Pada and sophomore offensive lineman Alfred Edwards as well as Nathan as a receiver.
