University of Utah Men’s Basketball Adds New Assistant Thursday

SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, University of Utah men’s basketball head coach Alex Jensen added Eric Daniels to his staff.

Daniels, the son of former Runnin’ Utes assistant Donny Daniels who served under head coach Rick Majerus, comes to the program from Utah State. He has also spent time as an assistant at Weber State (2019-24) and Utah Valley (2015-2019).

Daniels’ experiences in Division I men’s college basketball started at Southern Utah (2008-2009) as he served as the Thunderbirds’ director of basketball operations. He then went to NCAA Division II Regis (Colo.) (2009-2014), serving as an assistant coach for the Rangers.

Daniels also has NBA experience, serving as the Orlando Magic’s video analyst during the 2014-15 season.

Daniels previously starred at NAIA Johnson & Wales (Colo.) from 2004-2008 where he became the Wildcats’ all-time leader in scoring (1,191) and steals (306). He led the program to a berth in the NAIA National Tournament in 2005.
