SUU and Weber State Football Well-Represented on the Stats Preseason All-America Team

OGDEN, Utah-Tuesday, Weber State and Southern Utah University football combined to put five players on the STATS FCS Preseason All-America team.

Four of these players represent the Wildcats and one the Thunderbirds, bolstering what should be another successful season for each of these Big Sky Conference Utah-based squads.

The four players the Wildcats have on the roster are the most in the Big Sky Conference and only perennial FCS powers North Dakota State (7) and James Madison (5) have more.

For the Wildcats, senior offensive lineman Iosua Opeta was named to the first-team.

Making the second team was sophomore place kicker Trey Tuttle and the Wildcats on the third team were senior linebacker LeGrand Toia and sophomore kick returner Rashid Shaheed.

For the Thunderbirds, center Zach Larsen made the first-team squad as well. Larsen is one of 15 Big Sky Conference student-athletes to make the preseason All-American roster.

Larsen has also been named to the HERO Sports preseason All-American team and the Athlon Sports’ 2018 Preseason FCS All-American team.

Additionally, he was named to the College Football America Yearbook’s FCS starting lineup.
