Men’s Golf

DRIGGS, Idaho-Kyler Dunkle shot -13, posting a score of 203, as the Utah Utes’ men’s golf squad won the team title to conclude the Showdown in the Rockies at the Huntsman Springs Golf Course Tuesday.

The Utes had a collective team score of 842 (-22) with Utah State checking in tied for 9th.

The highest-finishing Aggie was Colten Cordingley in 13th place as he broke even, posting a score of 216.

Oregon State finished second in the team standings with a score of 855 (-9) while rounding out the top 5 were Texas Tech ( 856, -8), Saint Mary’s (857, -7) and Arizona (860, -4).

SOUTH KENT, Conn.-Tuesday, Weber State’s men’s golf team finished competition at the Hartford Hawk Invitational by placing 15th out of 16 teams competing at Bull’s Bridge Golf Club. The tournament was won by the UCF Knights, who posted a score of 550. The individual winner was the Knights’ Bobby Bai who scored a 135.

Weber State’s highest finisher was Jayce Frampton who tied for 43rd with a score of 147. The Wildcats’ team score was 604.

Women’s Golf

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-As the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women’s golf fall preview concluded Tuesday, the Dixie State women learned a lot about themselves and how far they can go as the season progresses.

The Trailblazers finished second overall in the standings with a collective score of  615 (+47). The University of Tampa Spartans won the team title with a score of 605 (+37).

The Spartans’ Kiira Riihijarvi, a Finnish national, won the individual title with a score of 130 (-12).

Dixie State’s highest finisher was Kaitlynn Deeble, a sophomore out of Boise, Idaho, who finished with a score of 148 (+6).

Her teammate, Katie Ford, finished 8th, despite being projected to finish 21st. She excelled with a score of 150 (+8).

The Trailblazers’ women are next in action October 1 and 2 as they host the Dixie State Fall Invitational at The Golf Course At Sand Hollow Resort of Hurricane, Utah.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-Tuesday, at the Cherokee Country Club, the Brigham Young University women’s golf team finished 13th out of 17 schools at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by the University of Tennessee.

The team title was won by Kent State as the Golden Flashes edged Middle Tennessee for the crown, 870-875.

The individual winner was Kentucky’s Leonie Bettel, an Austrian national, who posted a score of 208 (-5).

The Cougars’ highest finisher was Rosie Huang who tied for 23rd with a score of 222 (+9). Naomi Soifua finished tied for 31st for BYU, while Allysha Mae Mateo tied for 65th, Annick Haczkiewicz finished tied for 81st and Anna Kennedy tied for 87th for the Cougars.
