TACOMA, Wash.-Tyler Locklear and Rhylan Thomas homered and the Tacoma Rainiers downed Salt Lake 5-3 Sunday at Cheney Stadium in Pacific Coast League play, completing a sweep of the Bees.
Shintaro Fujinami posted a strikeout in one inning of work to earn the win on the mound for the Rainiers.
Chad Stevens and Yolmer Sánchez homered in the loss for the Bees.
Following Sunday’s results, the Rainiers improved to 27-30 and the Bees fell to 23-33. This was Salt Lake’s seventh consecutive loss.
The Bees seek to right the ship Tuesday as they return home to face the Round Rock Express for a six-game series at The Ballpark at America First Square. Opening pitch is slated for 6:35 pm.
Pioneer League
OGDEN, Utah-Bobby Lada and Cuba Bess each homered and the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers doubled up Ogden 10-5 Sunday in Pioneer League play at Lindquist Field, securing the series win over the Raptors. Christian Womble netted three strikeouts in six innings of work to earn the win on the mound for Yuba-Sutter. Christopher Sargent Jr. drove in two runs in the loss for the Raptors. Yuba-Sutter improved to 9-3 on the season while Ogden fell to 5-7. The Raptors return to action Tuesday at Boise for a six-game series against the Hawks. Opening pitch is slated for 7:05 pm at Memorial Stadium of Garden City, Idaho.
