Jernaro Gilford Named BYU Football Defensive Passing Game Coordinator

PROVO, Utah-Friday, BYU football defensive coordinator Jay Hill announced the promotion of Jernaro Gilford to defensive passing game coordinator on the Cougars’ staff.

Gilford starred for the Cougars from 1999-2003 as a cornerback and has been on head coach Kalani Sitake’s staff for 10 years.

Gilford was Sitake’s teammate at BYU and has served as a graduate assistant cornerbacks and special teams coach at NCAA Division III Whittier (Calif.) in 2012-2013 and as the cornerbacks coach at Southern Utah (2014 and 2015).

Gilford has earned degrees from both BYU and Whittier.
