MIDVALE, Utah-Friday morning, the Utah High School Activities Association named J. Ryan Bishop as the seventh executive director of this organization in its 99-year history.
As of July 1, Bishop will replace the outgoing Rob Cuff who had served in this position for the past 17 years.
A native of Heber City, Bishop graduated from Cedar City High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish education from Southern Utah University after which he earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from that institution.
Bishop has served in numerous educational leadership roles and also led the Davis Darts to the 5A state football championship in 2004 while at the helm of that program.
As the UHSAA approaches its centennial year, the hope is that Bishop will continue to promote and support participation in high school activities which enhance the educational experience of students across Utah.
