Former University of Utah Football Standout Eric Weddle Named To 2026 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot

IRVING, Texas-Monday, former University of Utah football standout Eric Weddle was named to the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame per a report from the National Football Foundation.

The native of Fontana, Calif. is one of 79 players and nine coaches from the NCAA Division I FBS Subdivision to appear on the ballot and the only one representing an institution in Utah.

While playing for the Utes (2003-2006), Weddle recorded 7 interceptions (2 pick sixes), a sack and 41 solo tackles.

In the NFL, Weddle was drafted No. 37 overall by the San Diego Chargers in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

During his career with the Chargers (2007-2015), Baltimore Ravens (2016-2018) and Los Angeles Rams (2019, 2021), Weddle netted 29 interceptions, 8 forced fumbles, 9.5 sacks and a fumble returned for a touchdown.

In retirement, Weddle has launched a jewelry line to benefit organizations providing resources to domestic violence victims while also supporting charities with his wife, Chanel, to fight against childhood cancer and breast cancer.
