ST. GEORGE, Utah-Saturday, Dixie State football, coming off a 56-14 loss to Colorado State-Pueblo, hosts Fort Lewis in the home opener.
This game is considered a “red-out” and there will be a DSU tailgate party from 3:00-5:00 p.m., prior to the 6:00 p.m. kickoff at Trailblazer Stadium.
Kids (18 years and younger) get free admission to the game with adult general admission tickets available for $5.
The first 2,000 fans inside the stadium will receive a free red Trailblazers shirt and at halftime, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new east grandstand at the stadium.
Since advancing to NCAA Division II from junior college status in 2006, Dixie State is 5-7 all-time in home openers.
In the series against Fort Lewis, Dixie State leads 2-1 all-time, first meeting the Skyhawks in the Dixie Rotary Bowl in December 2006. This was a 24-14 Fort Lewis win.
This is the first game in a three-game homestand for the Trailblazers as they will host the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys and South Dakota Mines on September 22.
