Dixie State Baseball Visits RMAC Leading Metro State This Weekend



DENVER-This weekend, Dixie State baseball (23-11, 13-7 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play) visits conference-leading Metro State (23-9, 16-4 in RMAC play).

The Trailblazers and Roadrunners will play a single game on both Friday and Sunday with a Saturday doubleheader.

Dixie State is paced by freshman infielder Tyson Fisher (a .419 batting average, 6 home runs, 32 RBI) and junior infielder Jake Engel (a .414 batting average, a team-leading 12 home runs and 40 RBI).

The Trailblazers’ pitching staff has been blessed by the excellence of senior right-hander Jayden Murray (7-2) and sophomore left-handed pitcher Jack Gonzales (5-1).

The Roadrunners are led by senior catcher/infielder Matt Malkin (a .421 batting average, 19 home runs, 52 RBI).

Metro State has a 3.63 ERA, led by pitching staff stars, junior left-handed pitcher/outfielder Logan Soole and sophomore right-hander Austin Stone (5-2 apiece) and redshirt junior right-hander John Badgett (3-0).

This is a historic weekend as the Trailblazers and Roadrunners are meeting for the first time on the diamond in this series.
