Dixie State Baseball Nets Three Honors

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Wednesday, three Dixie State baseball student-athletes received honors for successful seasons.

Junior first baseman/outfielder Jake Engel was named first-team all-region on the D2CCA, NCBWA and ABCA/Rawlings award list.

Engel, a product of Ironwood High School of Tucson, Ariz., netted a team-best 14 home runs and 52 RBI for the Trailblazers.

Furthermore, sophomore second baseman Tyler Hollow was voted to the all-region second team by each organization. Hollow tied Engel for the team RBI lead with 52 and batted .360, the fourth-best on the roster.

Murray, a senior right-handed hurler, broke or tied four Dixie State single-season records, including the program record for strikeouts with 92.

This also included a pair of 10-strikeout wins in victories over Adams State and Metro State.

Murray leaves the program as the career leader in strikeouts per nine innings (8.39 strikeouts per shutout), fourth-best in strikeouts (138) and tied for fourth in career wins (13).

All of these players now advance on the ballot for NCAA Division II All-American consideration by each of these organizations.
