SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday morning, the University of Utah announced the return of Salt Lake City veteran basketball public address announcer Dan Roberts who will serve the Runnin’ Utes at The Huntsman Center this season.
Roberts first came to Salt Lake City as the public address announcer for the Utah Stars of the now-defunct ABA from 1970-1975.
At this point, then-Utah men’s basketball head coach Jerry Pimm reached out to Roberts where he served as the Runnin’ Utes PA announcer from 1975-1979 after which he served the Utah Jazz from 1979-the spring of 2025.
During his time with the Jazz, Roberts called 2,135 games, including all Jazz home games in the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998 and two NBA All-Star games at Salt Lake City in 1993 and 2023.
Roberts’ first game with the Runnin’ Utes this season occurs October 17 when Utah hosts Nevada in an exhibition at the Huntsman Center.
