Thursday, BYU and Utah football each obtained representatives on the Butkus Award Preseason Watch List.

This award is annually presented to the top linebacker in FBS college football.

Utah was represented by junior linebacker Karene Reid and BYU by junior linebacker Ben Bywater.

Reid, a former American Fork High School star, posted 5 sacks, 9.5 tackles for a loss, an interception and a forced fumble as well as a fumble return for a score last season for the Utes.

Bywater, a former Olympus High School star, recorded three interceptions, four tackles for a loss and a sack for the Cougars in 2022.
