BYU Men’s Basketball Signs Former Timpview High School Star Jake Wahlin Wednesday

PROVO, Utah-Wednesday, BYU men’s basketball head coach Kevin Young announced the signing of former Timpview High School star Jake Wahlin.

Wahlin, who has also played at Utah and Clemson as a collegian, averaged 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds last season for the Tigers.

The 6-10 Wahlin will be a senior next season for the Cougars.

Throughout his collegiate career for the Runnin’ Utes and Tigers, Wahlin has posted 4.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest.

Thus far in the transfer portal this season, Young has added Wahlin, Kentucky transfer Collin Chandler, high school signees Dean Rueckert (a fellow former Timpview High School star to Wahlin), returned missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brooks Bahr (who was on the Yale roster in 2025), Fort Lauderdale, Fla. high school star Bruce Branch III, a 6-7 guard, and sophomore forward Tyler Betsey, who averaged 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game at Syracuse last season.

Wednesday, BYU also retained junior guard Rob Wright III who averaged 18.1 points and 4.6 assists last season for the Cougars.
