BYU Men’s Basketball Hosts Portland State Wednesday

PROVO, Utah-Wednesday, BYU men’s basketball, currently sporting a record of 7-4, returns to action by hosting the Portland State Vikings of the Big Sky Conference at the Marriott Center.

The Vikings come in at 5-3 and are coached by Southern Utah alum and former College of Southern Idaho head coach Barret Peery, a native of Payson, Utah, who played at both Snow College and SUU before commencing his collegiate career.

Cougars star junior forward, Yoeli Childs, comes into this game averaging 23.6 points and 11.4 rebounds on the season.

Childs scored 31 points for the third consecutive game in a 74-59 win over Utah last Saturday.

The high-scoring Cougars average 84.6 points per game and surrender 75.5 points per contest.

The Vikings are paced by sophomore guard Holland Woods, who averages 16.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

Portland State outscores opponents 86.2-69.6 per game and is coming off an 87-78 victory over crosstown rival, Portland, one of BYU’s West Coast Conference foes last Wednesday.
