BYU Football Star Tyler Batty Named As Finalist For Lombardi Award

HOUSTON-Thursday, BYU football senior defensive lineman Tyler Batty was named as a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award.

This award dates back to 1970 and is annually awarded to the top FBS college football offensive lineman, defensive lineman or linebacker who best exemplifies the character and discipline of NFL Hall of Fame head coach Vince Lombardi of the Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins.

The former Payson High School star has a sack, interception, a pass defense and 24 combined tackles this season for the 6-0 Cougars who are No. 13 in the nation this week.

The winner of the Lombardi Award will be announced December 11.

Batty and his Cougars teammates host Oklahoma State Friday at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
