SURPRISE, Ariz.-Easton Jones drove in five runs and the No. 9 BYU Cougars smoked No. 12 Texas Tech 18-8 Tuesday at Surprise Stadium in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament.

Austin Park netted three strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Cougars.

Tracer Lopez drove in three runs in the loss for the Red Raiders.

The Cougars next meet No. 8 Baylor Wednesday at 5:30 pm in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament.

AJ Evasco homered and the No. 11 Kansas State Wildcats bested No. 10 Utah 9-5 at Surprise Stadium Tuesday. Luke Jacobs homered in the loss for the Utes. The Wildcats next meet No. 7 TCU Wednesday in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament.
