Bear Bachmeier Named Big 12 Freshman of The Week For Second Consecutive Week

PROVO, Utah-Monday, for the second consecutive week, BYU freshman signal-caller Bear Bachmeier was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week.

In the Cougars’ 38-24 win over West Virginia last Friday, the native of Murrieta, Calif. completed 18-25 passes for a career-high 351 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also ran for 43 yards and another score in the victory over the Mountaineers.

On the season, Bachmeier is completing 68.7 percent of his passes for 1,048 yards, seven touchdowns and an interception

Bachmeier leads an offense that is currently averaging 38.4 points per game while the Cougars are off to a 5-0 start on the season.

Bachmeier and his BYU teammates return to action Saturday evening at Tucson, Ariz. against the Arizona Wildcats as the Big 12 season ensues for both squads.
