…Heavy snow and cold temperatures across the northern mountains this weekend…
.A storm system will move from the Pacific Northwest and into Utah late Saturday. This storm will bring very cold air into the state with heavy snow and cold temperatures expected across the northern mountains and northern mountain valleys Saturday night through Sunday.
…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 PM MDT SUNDAY…
* WHAT…Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9 inches, with locally greater amounts approaching 15 inches.
Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE…Wasatch Mountains I-80 North, Wasatch Mountains South of I-80 and Western Uinta Mountains.
* WHEN…From noon Saturday to 6 PM MDT Sunday.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult, especially along seasonal roads in the backcountry.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Hunters in the backcountry for the beginning of the annual deer hunt should prepare for cold and wet conditions with the potential for heavy snow.
