LaFAYETTE, Ga.-Sunday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued a press release confirming one of their missionaries passed away per Church spokesman Daniel Woodruff.
Woodruff confirmed that 19-year-old McKay Bergeson of Bountiful, Utah died Saturday evening after getting hit on his bicycle in LaFayette, Ga.
His companion was uninjured. Elder Bergeson had been serving in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission, of which LaFayette is a part, since December 2019.
Woodruff said the Church expresses its “sympathy and heartfelt condolences” to Bergeson’s family and loved ones as they mourn his passing and remember his life.
