Utah Lawmaker Proposes Task Force to Address AI Use in Schools

(Salt Lake City, UT) — State lawmakers have introduced HB 168, a bill to establish a task force aimed at overseeing the ethical use of AI in Utah schools. The task force would focus on preventing misuse, such as cheating, while promoting the benefits of AI in education. Although the Utah State Board of Education and the University of Utah have AI policies, they are not coordinated. The proposed task force would provide recommendations, without authority to mandate changes, and would include educators, experts, and possibly parents.
