Utah Child Hospitalized After Utah Food Bank Gives Out Tainted Candy

ROY, Utah-An 11-year-old girl is being treated at the hospital after eating THC-infused candy.

THC is the psychoactive substance found in marijuana.

Per the Roy City Police Department, 63 bags of food were given to as many families.

All of these bags contained “Medicated Nerds” rope candy which has 400 milligrams of THC per rope.

Five of the children ate the candy and two have been hospitalized. Another child, a 4-year-old girl, also ate the candy and was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital after visiting a nearby insta-care.

This occurred at Roy Baptist Church, located at 2025 W. 5700 South in Roy.

On Facebook, the Roy Police Department confirmed they are “actively reaching out to those families who left contact information with staff at the church when they received their bag of food.”

Any families who received a bag of food such as these 63 bags are to contact the Roy Police Department immediately at 1-801-629-8221.
