UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah-Our friends at Utah Wildfire Info confirmed that as of Monday, 84 percent of the Upper Provo Fire has been contained.
This commenced July 31 and is burning 22 miles east of Kamas in the Murdock Basin Area on Heber-Kamas Ranger District land of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
The size burned is 480 acres as of Monday’s report.
Murdock Basin Road (Forest Service Road No. 137) and Broadhead Meadows Road (Forest Service Road No. 416) are closed. The Murdock Basin and Broadhead Meadows areas also remain closed at this time.
Mirror Lake Highway is open. Drivers should be cautious concerning fire traffic on the road.
Sunday, the most active spot for the fire is on its northeast side west of Pyramid Lake.
Fire behavior was low with interior burning within the fire lines. Firefighters will continue to focus on these areas for the next few days.
The Incident Management Team plans to transition management of this fire to a Type 4 team on Tuesday morning.
