WASHINGTON-Monday, United States president Donald Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force addressed the national media.

Trump started things out, saying that over 9 million tests for COVID-19 have occurred in the United States. The nation was conducting 150,000 tests daily weeks ago but now approximately 300,000 daily tests are being conducted, he confirmed.

He also stated his administration will provide collection supplies to help states reach their targets and “meet them rapidly.”

Trump continued, saying “my administration has partnered with the private sector to coordinate more than 90 million N95 masks” which will be distributed to Americans.

As he spoke on the border, Trump said “we have had very few people coming in through the Mexico-U.S. border.” He confirmed that “record-low numbers” of migrants are crossing.

He concluded this thought, saying “the last thing we want now with this pandemic is more people to come across our southern border.”

Admiral Brett Giroir, the assistant secretary for health under the Trump Administration then spoke.

Giroir said “Today, we will have done more than twice the per capita rate of testing that was accomplished in South Korea. No matter how you look at it, America is leading the world in testing.”

Girior continued, saying “The U.S. will perform ‘well over 12 million tests’ in the next four weeks.”

He confirmed the federal government will offer $11 billion to America’s states, territories and tribes for COVID-19 testing. He concluded, saying that this will assist local governments in reaching their testing goals.

Trump was then asked about three White House aides testing positive and if a systematic breakdown occurred.

Trump refuted this, saying “I don’t think the system broke down at all. One person tested positive, surprisingly. It can happen. It’s the hidden enemy.”

He expressed his confidence that the one who tested positive will be “absolutely fine.”
