SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, covid-19 statistics for Utah were updated by the state department of health.
Prior to this release, Utah Gov. Gary Herbert confirmed the state of emergency that exists in the Beehive State will be extended indefinitely at midnight.
Since statistics began being kept for covid-19 in Utah, there have been 47,982 recorded cases of covid-19. This is an increase of 461 in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 97 in the same span.
615,804 Utahns have now been tested for covid-19. This is an increase of 5,442 in the past 24 hours.
This increased the positive test percentage to 7.79 percent. Wednesday, this was at 7.78 percent.
The 24-hour positive test percentage slumped to 8.47 percent. Wednesday, this number was at 9.46 percent.
There have been 39,364 recoveries from covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 481 in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 153 recoveries in the same span.
The current recovery percentage in Utah is 82.03 percent. This is an 0.21 percent increase from Wednesday’s 81.82 percent.
The gap between all-time cases in Utah and recoveries shrank to 8,618 Thursday. This is a decrease of 20 in the past 24 hours.
There are currently 8,237 active cases in Utah, representing a net decrease of 24 in the past 24 hours.
The current active case percentage in Utah is 17.16 percent.
There are currently 31,127 more recovered cases than active cases in Utah. This is an increase of 505 in the past 24 hours.
Since statistics began being kept in Utah, there have been 2,853 hospitalizations for covid-19. This is a net increase of 21 in the past 24 hours.
The current hospitalizations in Utah for covid-19 remained unchanged from Wednesday’s report. With the number staying at 139, the current hospitalization percentage dropped to 4.87 percent. This was at 4.908 percent Wednesday.
There is one less ICU case for covid-19 hospitalizations in Utah, dropping them to 62. The current ICU hospitalization percentage is at 44.6 percent. This is a decrease from Wednesday’s 45.32 percent.
ICU is currently 66 percent occupied.
There were four new deaths in Utah attributed to covid-19. This increased the death percentage to 0.794.
Wednesday, this was at 0.793 percent.
Wasatch County saw three new cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, raising the total to 604. The hospitalizations decreased by one to 25.
Deaths attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County stayed at four per Thursday’s report. The most recent death attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County occurred July 6.
