SALT LAKE CITY-In a press release issued by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square Friday, the world-renowned musical group has canceled several concerts and made changes to public broadcasts and rehearsals.
Fans of the choir can still watch and listen to Music & The Spoken Word broadcasts but are disallowed from attending in person.
The scheduled Messiah concert, slated for Easter weekend, performed by the choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will not be live.
However, this oratorio will be broadcast via an Internet stream and satellite broadcast. It will be the previously recorded 2018 broadcast.
The spring concert, traditionally performed by the Chorale and Orchestra at Temple Square, has been canceled, scheduled for March 20 and 21.
Temporary changes include:
-weekly Music & The Spoken Word broadcasts are not open to the public. These weekly broadcasts, which began July 15, 1929 and are in their 90th year, will undergo this restriction as of Sunday March 15.
Previously recorded programs will be broadcast.
-weekly choir rehearsals (Thursdays) are not open to the public.
-weekly bell rehearsals (Wednesday) are not open to the public
-daily organ recitals suspended. This ban commences Sunday March 15 and continues until further notice.
