SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, Utah health authorities confirmed the Beehive State’s second COVID-19 death.
This was an older woman from St. George, younger than the age of 60 who passed away at a Salt Lake City hospital, per Utah state epidemiologist, Dr. Angela Dunn.
The tests have increased by 19 percent in Utah over the course of the past 48 hours, Dunn confirmed. This is because of the increased tests that have occurred.
Dunn also confirmed that any declarations or statements on stay-at-home rulings in the Beehive State will come from Governor Gary Herbert’s office.
Dunn also expressed good news for Utah as despite the increase in tests, there is not an exponential increase in cases as is true in neighboring states, such as Nevada, Colorado and California.
Dunn also stated that grocery stores in the state prefer self-checkout by customers whenever possible.
Furthermore, at grocery stores, Dunn encourages customers to wash produce after purchase.
She continued by saying that social distancing regulations cannot be legitimately discussed until the peak has been reached.
At that point, Dunn continued, the situation can be more effectively assessed.
Dunn also stated that if you have a “slight dry cough,” self-isolation is wise.
