The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Shares Plans for Lighting The World This Christmas Season

SALT LAKE CITY-Per a statement released by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Monday, the Salt Lake City-based faith is encouraging people to bring light to the world this Christmas season through simple, meaningful acts of service.

Effective November 15, lighttheworld.org presents the following suggestions:

-Volunteer opportunities through justserve.org (where available).

-The ability to donate directly to organizations that partner with Latter-day Saint Charities

-A daily calendar of 25 simple ways to serve others

-Daily texts or emails leading up to Christmas that people can opt in to receive.

More information will be forthcoming at lightheworld.org.

Because of covid-19, the annual Giving Machines (large red vending machines to help people donate to charities; circa 2017) will not be used this Christmas season.

This information was revealed by General Authority Seventy and the executive director of the Church’s Missionary Department Elder Marcus B. Nash.
