SALT LAKE CITY-A news recap for events in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the week of April 24:

NAACP and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Host Black Leaders in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO-April 14 and 15, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints united in San Francisco to assist members of the black community in the city.

The theme was “Together We Can Make A Difference.”

These organizations first came together in May 2018 to call for greater civility and racial harmony in society.

Elder Gerrit W. Gong, an Apostle in The Church of Jesus Christ, joined the group for dinner Friday April 14.

Others in attendance were Veronica Shepard and Jonathan Butler of the San Francisco Branch of the NAACP and Elder Ahmad S. Corbitt of the Seventy in The Church of Jesus Christ.
