The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Completes Salta Argentina Temple Groundbreaking

SALTA, Argentina-Wednesday, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints leaders in Salta, Argentina broke ground for the Salt Lake City-based faith’s third temple in this South American nation.

Presiding at this service was Elder Benjamin De Hoyos, the South America South Area president of the Church.

Elder De Hoyos also offered the dedicatory prayer.

Local government leaders also attended this event. Among them were Salta Governor Gustavo Saenz.

This temple was finally able to have ground broken following two previous postponements caused by covid-19.

The temple was announced in April 2018 by Church President Russell M. Nelson.

Details concerning the temple’s open house and dedications upon its completion will be announced at a future date.

Other temples in Argentina include the Buenos Aires Temple (1986; 2012 rededication) and the Cordoba Temple (2015).

Temples have also been planned for Bahia Blanca and Mendoza, Argentina as well as Salta.
