SALT LAKE CITY-Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has canceled their 2020 treks and pageants.
Church recreational properties, including the Heber Valley Camp, are closed until further notice.
As directed by the Church’s First Presidency and Quorum of Twelve Apostles, all public gatherings of Church members worldwide have been suspended until further notice.
This also includes Aaronic Priesthood Quorum camps, Young Women camps and overnight youth conferences.
If customary camps and conferences do not occur, local leaders may want to consider technology-based experiences that would provide youth with fun and meaningful opportunities to contact, one with another.
When the First Presidency and Quorum of Twelve Apostles approve gatherings, local Priesthood and young women leaders may organize youth conference activities at Church meetinghouses.
If overnight youth conferences and camp-outs are desired, Church-owned facilities (such as the Heber Valley Camp), where available, should be used before considering non-Church properties.
Guidelines for such activities will be provided as time restrictions are lifted. Leaders should not be planning treks for 2020.
The Nauvoo Pageant will next occur July 6-31, 2021 and is to continue in subsequent years.
The Hill Cumorah Pageant at Palmyra, N.Y. will now be performed for its final season July 8-10; 13-17, 2021.
