The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Announces Postponement Of Winnipeg Temple Dedication

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada-The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, per a Tuesday announcement, revealed the dedication of its temple at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada will be postponed.

This postponement will remain in effect until large public gatherings are deemed safe.

The open house had been slated for October 22-October 31 and the dedication for November 8 by Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Salt Lake City-based faith’s Quorum of Twelve Apostles.

The temple was announced in April 2011 and the groundbreaking ceremony occurred in December 2016.

There are presently 4,716 Latter-day Saints in Manitoba who all belong to a stake headquartered in Winnipeg.

The 14 congregations are symmetrically divided into seven wards and seven branches located throughout the province.

There are also seven family history centers in Manitoba.

The Canada Winnipeg Mission was created in 1976.

This mission currently comprises the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan in entirety as well as the western sector of Ontario.
