The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Announces Groundbreaking For Bahia Blanca Temple

SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the groundbreaking for the faith’s new temple at Bahia Blanca, Argentina.

The temple was announced in April 2020 by Church President Russell M. Nelson at that month’s General Conference.

The ceremony is slated for Saturday April 9. Elder Joaquin E. Costa of the Quorum of the Seventy will preside at the event.

The new temple is to be constructed on an 8.14-acre site at Aldea Romana over Cabrera Avenue.

Attendance at the event will be by invitation only.

This will be Argentina’s fifth temple.

The South American nation has temples at Buenos Aires (1986; rededication 2012) and Cordoba (2015). Temples are currently underway for Mendoza and Salta.

Argentina has 470,843 Latter-day Saints in 78 stakes and 734 congregations. Thirteen full-time missions currently serve Argentines.
