Summit County Orders Closure Of All Dine-In Food Service, Places of Public Gathering

PARK CITY, Utah-Sunday, Summit County health officials ordered the closure of all dine-in food services and other public gathering places to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Summit County Health Officer, Dr. Rich Bullough and Summit County Attorney Margaret Olson issued a public health order on the matter.

Per the order, as of 5:00 pm MDT Sunday, the closure of all resorts, restaurants, taverns, bars, entertainment venues, fitness and exercise facilities, spas, churches and other businesses where gatherings occur, is to take effect.

Restaurants may still serve curb-site take-out and drive-thru customers with certain precautions.

The order states that, as of Saturday, Summit County had the highest proportion of positive COVID-19 cases in Utah. Six of the county’s eight confirmed cases were visitors who contracted the virus outside of the Beehive State.

The order also confirms that Summit County, and more specifically, Park City’s, prominent location as a destination for domestic and international tourists risks the spread of COVID-19 throughout the community.
