ST. GEORGE, Utah-Per information released Tuesday, the Dixie Convention Center of St. George will not be changing its name.

The board voted 5-2 Tuesday to keep the name, notwithstanding a unanimous vote in June to rebrand its name to the “Greater Zion Convention Center.”

Washington County Commissioners confirmed that push-back from the community expedited Tuesday’s decision.

Kevin Lewis, the tourism director for the Greater Zion Center and Tourism Office, said there is pressure upon political leaders concerning this position.

Lewis further stated he respects the board’s decision and will continue to market the building the best he can to the outside world.
