HEBER CITY, Utah-Tuesday, Smith’s Food and Drug stores confirmed that it will cut the customers allowed in the store at one time in half.
This includes the Heber City Smith’s, located at 550 N. Main.
Smith’s parent company, Cincinnati-based Kroger, says customer traffic will be monitored through technology.
The change is an effort to promote social distancing with the goal of flattening the curve because of the spread of coronavirus.
Under these new reduced capacity limits, only one person will be allowed per 120 square feet.
Last week, Kroger announced a pay increase of $2 for all of its workers.
Kroger will pay all of its grocery workers, including supply chain, manufacturing, pharmacy and call center associates, a “hero bonus”for their contributions in working on the front-lines of the crisis.
This bonus will be a $2 premium above their standard base rate of pay for hours worked from March 29-April 18.
