Small Earthquake Hits Rural Area Near Colorado-Utah Border

BEDROCK, COLO. (AP) — A small earthquake hit a rural area Saturday near the ColoradoUtah border, the University of Utah Seismograph Stations reported.

The magnitude 4.3 earthquake took place at 7:11 p.m. The epicenter was 3 1/2 miles (5.6 kilometers) southwest of Bedrock, Colorado, and 18 miles (29 kilometers) east of La Sal, Utah, the agency said.

Residents of Bedrock and Moab, Utah, felt it.

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations said the earthquake took place within an area of frequent small, shallow earthquake activity triggered by underground saltwater injection.
